Geneva Ruth Dawson
Hello,
my name is Geneva Ruth Dawson. Sewing since I was 9 and working with
quilts for the last 30 years, I have always enjoyed designing and working
with different textiles. I primarily work with 100% cotton and flannels;
however, I do not limit myself to these fabrics.
For many years I have done restoration work on antique
quilts. This also includes hand embroidery work, hand quilting, machine
quilting, appliqué work, as well as design and piece work of
items ranging from wall hangings to King size quilts.
My husband Reggie and I live in a small community along
the beautiful Columbia River Gorge called The Dalles. We are surrounded
by mountains and border a mile wide river. A better place for artistic
inspiration would be difficult to find.
After my husband lost his father and his brother, I was
asked to do something with their clothes. So I made them into quilts
for my husband and his family, leaving pockets, labels and name badges
in place so that they could be seen. My husband wanted a very basic
design. I worked with this idea and my first “Memory Quilt”
was made. Since then I have made many more. Everyone has loved this
unique way of keeping their memories of their loved ones close.
I would be pleased to make a custom quilt from your memories.
Please email or call me and I will be happy to discuss your ideas and
needs.
-Ruth
